indigenous People of Biafra was founded and nurtured by Emeka John Chigozie Emekesiri. It was later hijacked in a presentation to Igbo Congress at the 3rd Quarter Board/HOD meeting; elaborated on the original and main purpose of the body.
And how late former military head of state, General Sani Abacha welcomed the idea presented by late Vice President, Alex Ekwueme and how the idea and plans became a failure.
However, according to history one could ascertain the reason why General Yakubu Gowon reneged in Aburi Accord, the role Ken Saro Wiwa played and some mistakes made by Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu politically,
Who led the Biafran war.
Nevertheless, the original plan and main aim of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) was to achieve strong, united and well developed Igbo nation in a united Nigeria before any other Consideration.
Biafra started the struggle of self determination and independent at very early stage.
Indigenous People of Biafra is a movement, body established by the authority of the supreme council of elders of the Indigenous people of Biafra under the leadership of the late Igbo icons which includes; His Lordship, His Royal Highness, The Honourable Justice Ozogbu, OFR, Dr. Dozie Ikedife, OON, Brig Gen. Joe Aduzia and Chief Bar. Debe Odumegwu Ojukwu.
Painfully, the aforementioned founders has passed on to glory. Igbo people are widely known to be industrious, hardworking, friendly, equity and justice.
Igbo people believes in no food for lazy man, so they works very hard and they hate the word “Begging” because to them, to beg is a very shameful thing to do. They also believe in the Term “Reward for hardwork and excellence”.
It is a trait, that they succeeds in the place where others fails. Igbo men are all known for their love towards each other, towards family and at times they love strangers more than their own brothers.
The igbo people depends on God and their own untiring self effort because they know quite alright that the Government of Nigeria has failed them in all ramifications.
The situation on ground has made the Igbo people forget their philosophy that says “Igwe bu ike” and all that. It is a common thing in the Igbo land for every one to be in Unity because they believes so much in teamwork.
They need to go back to their old and ancient philosophy, so that they can unite, stand and conquer together as a nation.
The great content in Igbo land was destroyed during the war between Nigeria and Biafra. The content contains some Golden and unique attitude which says that the Igbos ar govern by the Elders, Head of the Community and head of the family.
The content also contains some attitude which says “Any one who brings a large amount of money home, the Head or Elders of the village will invite him or her to come and explain how he got the money, if found out that his source is questionable, he will be banished from the village or community because they believes good money is better than Wealth and Riches.
In Igbo land, there were strong sense of morality, integrity, respect, and love for constituted authorities and Village Heads. There were groups or body established that regulates the actions taken by any one in Igbo land.
They makes decision in the interest of the entire Igbo people in Nigeria.
However, when you look at the present generation, you can see rebellion all over. Splitting of groups and all that.
The founder of the body, Indigenous people of Biafra, IPOB, said in an interview “when I came into Biafra struggle, the first thing I did was to create and organization under the elder of the land so that all the first thing i did was to create an organization under the elders of Igbo land so that all the Biafran activists would be properly guided and protected.
This was why i created the body known as INDIGENOUS PEOPLE OF BIAFRA to represent all the remnant of the Biafra not consumed in the war which Dr. Dozie Ikedife abbreviated to IPOB in the year 2013″.
The Founder displayed a selfless character by not making himself the leader of the movement but described himself as the solicitor for Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, because he was the person who filled the case between Biafra and Nigeria.
The Igbo man believes in the adage that says, Egbe Bere Ugo bere, (Eagel should perch and Hawk should perch as well). They believes the world is too Large and it can accommodate every body. According to the founder, Aburi Accord was signed on the 5th of January 1967.
According to Ken Saro-wiwa, the Non-Igbos were not happy with the Aburi Accord which created a confederation of the Regional Government.
However, in the book, he told a story of how he took some of the Igbo chiefs to Lagos and defected to Nigeria side and also told Gowon that the Non-Igbos don’t want to be joined with the Igbo’s in the same region and did not want Biafra as well.
It was said that General Gowon Violated the Aburi Accord and divided the south Eastern Region into three on the 27th of may 1967 by creating three states, Namely, East Central which has its headquarters at Enugu, Rivers states with headquarters at Port Harcourt, South Eastern States with headquarters at Calabar.
This was not welcomed by the Original Igbos, so after three days, Odumegwu Ojukwu declared the Republic of Biafra.
